Our readers often come to us during stressful times and make important decisions based on what they read. We take that responsibility seriously. This policy explains how our content is created and maintained.
Accuracy and sources
We base our content on primary sources wherever possible: federal and state statutes, regulations, court rules and guidance from government agencies such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission, the IRS and the US Courts. We link to sources where they help readers.
Writing and review
Our guides are written in plain English and reviewed by professionals with experience in accounting, finance and business valuation before publication. Each article shows its author, its reviewer and the date it was last updated.
Keeping content current
Debt laws and lending rules change. We review our core guides at least once a year and update them sooner when laws change. Our state statute of limitations chart shows the date it was last reviewed.
Independence and referrals
Debt Remediation Tools is part of the same group as Debt Remediation and Foxboro Consulting Group, and some pages suggest their services as a next step. We say so openly. Those relationships never change the facts we present, and we describe all debt relief options, including ones those businesses do not offer, such as bankruptcy and do-it-yourself approaches.
No guarantees
We never promise that a strategy will erase debt, stop a lawsuit or produce a particular result. Every situation is different.
